In response to the growing decline of national pride and civic values in Nigeria, the Eagles Foundation for Humanity, in conjunction with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, launched the Sowing Seeds of National Pride initiative in 2024.
Themed “Civic Engagement + Education for Unity,” this impactful project aimed to inspire patriotism, foster civic responsibility, and build a sense of national unity among Nigerians, especially the younger generation.
The initiative began on July 22, 2024, with visits to schools and communities in Lagos. At Mahmud Ahmadiyya College, Ijede, students were educated on the practical aspects of patriotism, emphasizing everyday acts like respecting national symbols and contributing to community development. That same day, at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jammah, discussions with women highlighted their vital role in instilling civic values in their children, emphasizing how mothers can shape future generations of patriotic Nigerians.
On September 24, 2024, the program extended to Ansarul Islam Secondary School, Igbonla, Kwara, where local language sessions helped bridge gaps in understanding patriotism. The session concluded with the distribution of educational materials, including school sandals and notebooks for 250 students, reinforcing the importance of education in promoting unity.
