The #TrashChallenge is an innovative environmental sanitation initiative organized by the Eagles Foundation for Humanity in 2019 across multiple locations, including Kwara, Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, and Sokoto. The challenge was aimed at promoting cleanliness, public health, and environmental sustainability through community-driven efforts.
With the slogan “Service to God and Humanity,” the foundation mobilized volunteers, community members, and partner organizations to address the growing challenge of improper waste disposal. The events were held in prominent locations like Mandate Market in Ilorin, UDUS School Bus Stop in Sokoto, and other key areas nationwide. The activities involved clearing trash, sensitizing the public on proper waste management, and advocating for cleaner and healthier environments.
Each venue became a hub of environmental advocacy, fostering collaboration between individuals and organizations. The foundation worked in partnership with local stakeholders such as Junior Chamber International (JCI) and “Let’s Do It Nigeria,” ensuring that the events were well-organized and impactful. Volunteers dedicated their time and energy to making a tangible difference, removing heaps of waste and transforming littered spaces into cleaner environments.
The #TrashChallenge highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in preserving public spaces and emphasized the link between environmental cleanliness and community well-being. The initiative not only improved the aesthetic appeal of affected areas but also contributed to reducing health risks associated with unclean surroundings. This impactful campaign reflects the Eagles Foundation’s commitment to sustainable development and its mission to create healthier, cleaner communities. By inspiring individuals to take action, the foundation is building a culture of environmental stewardship, one community at a time.
