On August 19, 2016, the Eagles Foundation for Humanity marked World Humanitarian Day by organizing a nationwide blood donation drive. This life-saving initiative aimed to raise awareness about the critical need for blood donations while encouraging individuals to contribute to the well-being of their communities through humanitarian action.
The event took place simultaneously in several locations across Nigeria, including Lagos, Rivers, Osun, and Kwara States. Key venues included Marvelous Medical Lab in Lagos, Health Centre Bonny Island in Rivers, Union Diagnosis Lab in Osogbo, and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Oke-Oyi, in Ilorin.
The drive brought together volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community members to support the cause of saving lives through blood donation. Participants were given an opportunity to donate blood, which was collected and distributed to healthcare facilities to address the pressing demand for safe blood, particularly for emergency cases, surgeries, and patients with chronic illnesses.
This initiative aligned with the foundation’s core mission to promote public health and improve lives through compassionate and impactful interventions. The campaign also served as a platform for educating the public on the importance of regular blood donation in reducing maternal mortality, aiding accident victims, and supporting other medical emergencies.
